Glossary of terms:

Glossary of terms of what’s been said in my CASS lessons:

Photomontage: A montage constructed from photographic images.


Fleur-de-lis: A stylized lily composed of three petals bound together near their bases. It is especially known from the former royal arms of France, in which it appears in gold on a blue field.


Global warming: Global warming, also referred to as climate change, is the observed century-scale rise in the average temperature of the Earth's climate system and its related effects.


Advertising: The activity or profession of producing advertisements for commercial products or services.


Mass Media: Mass media means technology that is intended to reach a mass audience. It is the primary means of communication used to reach the vast majority of the general public. 


Timeline: A graphical representation of a period of time, on which important events are marked.


Photosynthesis: Photosynthesis is a process used by plants and other organisms to convert light energy into chemical energy that can later be released to fuel the organisms' activities.


Provocation: Action or speech that makes someone angry, especially deliberately.


Body image: Body image is a person's perception of the aesthetics or sexual attractiveness of their own body.


Uncanny: Strange or mysterious, especially in an unsettling way.


Photography: The art or practice of taking and processing photographs.


Graphics: The products of the graphic arts, especially commercial design or illustration.


Illustration: The action or fact of illustrating something.


Fashion: A popular or the latest style of clothing, hair, decoration, or behaviour.


Photoshop: Alter (a photographic image) digitally using Photoshop image-editing software.


Repetition: The action of repeating something that has already been said or written.


Recycle: Convert (waste) into reusable material.


Renewable energy: Renewable energy is energy that is collected from renewable resources, which are naturally replenished on a human timescale, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat.


Sustainability: In ecology, sustainability is the property of biological systems to remain diverse and productive indefinitely. Long-lived and healthy wetlands and forests are examples of sustainable biological systems.


Contemporary Fordism: Fordism is the basis of modern economic and social systems in industrialized, standardized mass production and mass consumption. ... It is used in social, economic, and management theory about production, working conditions, consumption, and related phenomena, especially regarding the 20th century.


Modernity: The quality or condition of being modern. A modern way of thinking, working, etc.; contemporariness.
